Jon McIntosh accepting the 2016 Bob Award

With the dawn of 2017, Advancing Leadership is joining the entire Federal Way community in bidding farewell to one of our program’s greatest contributors.

On December 5th, AL held a tribute to Jon McIntosh, ALA ’99 and former AL board president, program planner, team project coach and speaker – at Federal Way City Hall. Superintendent Tammy Campbell, Federal Way Police Chief Andy Hwang, ALA ’00, South King Fire and Rescue Chief Al Church, ALA ’99, Mayor Ferrell, Pastor Joe Bowman, Advancing Leadership co-founder Tom Vander Ark and current board member Caroline Vander Ark, ALA ’13. Each city leader shared how Jon had influenced their organizations and constituents. Over fifty community members and AL alumni turned out to wish Jon and his wife Wendy McIntosh, ALA ’12, well in their move to Everett, WA.

In addition to event speakers, many attendees shared memories before and after the program about the powerful impact of this couple in their lives.

Jon’s message to us has always been to consider how our actions, words and choices impact those around us over the long term. He challenged each of us to leave a positive legacy in everything we do. We can definitely say that Jon has modeled the way for us, and will continue to do so.
